Nursery Director
The WSBC Nursery Director shall be responsible to oversee the Nursery Sunday morning and, as needed, Wednesday evening operation. The Nursery Director shall serve as an ex-officio member of Nursery/Child Care Committee, and in consultation with the Nursery/Child Care Committee, will accept the primary responsibility for:
- Volunteer nursery staff recruitment and scheduling
- Training new volunteers and holding periodic in-service training for "veterans" (as appropriate)
- Serving as a staff liaison communicating nursery needs, recommendations and schedules between nursery volunteers, parents, church office staff, the Nursery/Child Care Committee, as well as the Board of Christian Education who oversee the nursery and the Trustees regarding nursery equipment concerns.
- Scheduling oneself and serving regularly as a nursery volunteer (unpaid, like others), and being available to provide substitute coverage when a scheduled volunteer is absent or not able to serve during a given shift.
- Scheduling oneself and serving regularly as a nursery volunteer (unpaid, like others) for at least four special evening services or events annually, and seeing that all special evening events have appropriate nursery coverage. Evening service events include: Maundy Thursday, Christmas Eve; a Christmas and/or Easter cantata; an evening of music or fine arts; or other special speaker, conference or fellowship.
- Making appropriate purchases of nursery supplies, in consultation with the Nursery/Child Care Committee and/or as directed by the Board of Christian Education or Trustees.
- Being responsible to see that the nursery is attractive, stocked with supplies, clean and tidy before each Sunday service or each special evening service.
The stipend for the Nursery Director shall be determined by the WSBC Trustees. (Please note the C.E. Board recommendation of ~$225 per month; ~$2,700 annually). Applicants for this position must present documentation of Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance prior to beginning their service with WSBC. The process of application, interview and hiring, oversight and review, retention or termination will be according to WSBC Personnel Policies, and directed by a five member task force involving: two Board of Christian Education members who have responsibility for early childhood education concerns; one member of the Nursery/Child Care Committee, one Trustee representing the Personnel Committee, and the Pastor.
Contemporary Worship Leader (C.W.L.)
1. PURPOSE
The C.W.L. shall have responsibility for the direction of the contemporary music ministry of the West Shore Baptist Church, with the goal of engaging the
hearts of our congregation with the Lord.
2. DUTIES
(A) The C.W.L. shall be responsible for rehearsing and directing the praise team for their participation in the regularly scheduled contemporary worship
services, for leading the worship at all contemporary services, and for selecting praise music which is of worthy quality and appropriate for use in the
contemporary worship service.
(B) The C.W.L., at the pastor’s request, shall provide and lead praise music for the following additional services: combined unity service. At the
request of the pastor and/or the music director, praise music may be incorporated into other special services during the year.
(C) The praise team shall hold one rehearsal per week unless otherwise required. All rehearsals are to be conducted by the C.W.L. The C.W.L. shall
find a replacement if, for any reason, he or she cannot attend.
(D) The praise team shall participate in contemporary worship services throughout the calendar year.
(E) The C.W.L. shall select all praise music to be used at the contemporary worship service.
3. RELATIONSHIPS
(A) The C.W.L. shall have the use of office equipment, stationary, secretarial services, etc., as these may be needed to facilitate the work of the
congregation’s music program.
(B) In planning and providing leadership to the contemporary music program, the C.W.L. shall work in close collaboration with the pastor(s) and shall be
under the direct supervision of the church pastor. In matters relating to contemporary worship services, the C.W.L. shall receive instructions from the
senior pastor, who, by virtue of his office, is charged with the responsibility of ordering and directing all services of worship. The C.W.L. shall offer
advice and assistance to the pastor(s) on matters relating to the contemporary music program whenever requested.
(C) The C.W.L. shall attend all regularly scheduled church staff meetings. If that is not possible due to work schedule or other life circumstances, an
arrangement will be made with the senior pastor to meet with him or her and other staff persons on a regular basis.
(D) The C.W.L. shall consult with the music director for approval on purchases of music and music supplies for the praise team. All expenditures for music
and supplies shall be promptly reported to the music director.
4. EXPENSES AND LEAVE
(A) Expenses and leave shall be as provided for in the WSBC Personnel Policy.
(B) Remuneration negotiable.
5. EVALUATION
(A) The C.W.L. shall be given a performance evaluation by the senior pastor in May of each year. The music director will provide the pastor with the input
for this evaluation by May 1st of each year.
